One year on for the Independent Tamil Women’s Association (ITWA)

The Independent Tamil Women’s Association celebrated its first anniversary on March 29th when a large group of people gathered at the Redgum Function Centre in Wentworthville for speeches, cultural events and food. It was also an opportunity to mark International Women’s Day.

Special guests included Dr Hugh McDermott, State Member for Prospect, Sujan Selven, Councillor on Cumberland City Council, and Durga Owen from the Tamil community, each of whom gave an address to those attending.

Saratha Nathan, an ITWA member, did a splendid job as MC.

Highlights of the afternoon included a fashion show entitled “Now and Then” and a dance called “My Life is in my Hands”.

BMRSG was represented by Noeline Nagle, Pat Rayner and Management Team member, Senthil Kasiannan. Noeline was honoured by the ITWA for her many years of work with refugees.

Sulo Nadarajah, Chair of the ITWA, shown with Noeline at top left, is a long time supporter of BMRSG.
