Report of BMRSG AGM November 2024

We held our Annual General Meeting on the 16 th of November 2024 with an enthusiastic gathering of members who appreciated the wonderful speakers a young Kurdish Iranian poet and refugee and Tamara Domicelj who has worked in the refugee space here and internationallyover decades. Tamara outlined the huge growth in the numbers of refugees and displaced world wide and the enormous challenges we face in helping them, particularly in light of the current political climate locally and globally. Tamara emphasised how vital it is we keep doing what we are doing and keep hope and compassion alive.

It is the one time each year that we ‘officially’ get together and is such an important opportunity to share stories and friendship and recharge our commitment and enthusiasm for the issues we will undoubtedly face in the year ahead.

I would like to thank Jane McQueen for organising so capably the AGM and the Annual Report for BMRSG, which can be found on our website.

Our new Management Committee was elected unopposed. Kathie Herbert Chair, Judy Lynch Vice Chair, Jane McQueen Secretary, Laurie Brackenreg Treasurer, and Committee Members Senthil Kasiannan, Roger Grealy, Barbara Barnard, Jill Gillespie and Ann-Marie McEwan.

We all look forward to working with you all in 2025 for justice for refugees.
