Ride for Education – 14 June at the Mechanics Institute, Lawson
Muzafar Ali, human rights advocate and Afghan Australian, is cycling 4,000 kms to raise awareness of and funds for education for women and girls in Afghanistan and at the Cisarua schools for refugee children in Indonesia.
Many of you will remember Muzafar’s astounding film, Watandar, My Countryman, which was shown at Mt Vic Flicks two years ago. If you missed it, SBS is streaming it here.
Find out more about the Indonesian project at this link: Cisarua Refugee Learning Centre.
A day by day calendar of Muzafar’s journey from Maleny north of Brisbane to Adelaide can be found here. If you’re on Instagram, click this link to the Ride for Education’s Insta page.
On 14 June, Muzafar will visit the Blue Mountains as part of his journey. We are holding an event at The Mechanics Institute in Lawson at 6pm, with food and music, to welcome him back and to help with his fundraising.
Tickets are $30 and available from humanitix.com/muzafar-ali-
