Tamil Eelam Women’s Uprising Day

by Ann-Maree McEwan

It was a pleasure for BMRSG to attend the International Tamil Eelam Women’s Uprising Day hosted by the Tamil Civic Centre Sydney on Sunday 13 October in Toongabbie.

The 1987 Tamil Eelam Women’s Uprising is acknowledged globally. It is a day to remember the women who fought and died in the war against the Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka and to honour the strength and sacrifices of Tamil Eelam women.

BMRSG women were honoured with awards during the event for their dedication and service to the Tamil community. Congratulations Judy Lynch and Sulo Nadarajah! (Ann-Maree McEwan received Judy’s award on her behalf).

A friend of BMRSG through Palm Sunday rally Sydney Kalyani Inpakumar was also recognised for her lifelong dedication to the Tamil community.
