Where it all began for BMRSG
I’m sure many of you who have been with BMRSG over the years will remember the old logo. BMRSG was the result of good hearted people who were outraged by how the Australian Government dealt with the Tampa incident in 2001. They came together to try to do something about it. This article, The Shadow of the Tampa by Julie Macken, published on Friday in Pearls and Irritations, reviews that incident, what happened subsequently and the impact it has had on those seeking asylum and on Australia. The struggle continues and must do so until asylum seekers are treated with kindness, dignity and respect.

Thanks, Erik!
I thought the article by Julie Macken was excellent, so it’s great it is brought to people’s attention; and thanks to Pat Rayner for alerting me to it last week.
Thanks Erik. An important reminder and reasonable ask.
